All right, welcome to Healthy Mindset Miracles. I am your host, tanisha, and we have a special guest today. I'd like to welcome April Goff-Brown. She is a human design specialist, intuitive journey guide, and she has written an amazing book that we'll talk about later, but I just want to welcome her right now. So welcome, april, to our podcast. It's so exciting to have you here. That's awesome. So we were talking about human design earlier, and so my listeners I'm certain some of them don't know what it is. Some of them do know what it is. Would you mind explaining what human design is to help our listeners kind of understand what it is that you do?

Speaker 1:

Yes, I love that and yeah, so I had a friend of mine tell me last year that I was a projector. I really didn't understand what a projector meant. So what are the other? Well, first of all, why would somebody want to learn what their human design is? And then my second question was what are the? I would I want lack of better words options of you know who they could be like? We're a projector. What are the other other parts of human designs? Are there?

Speaker 2:

Thank you, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, mm-hmm, yes, we need a mental break. It's so funny. I just had a friend of mine I'm sorry, I just had a friend of mine that Jess told me because I was telling her this morning about how this weekend I needed some time to just disconnect. And I did. I went to the creek and I disconnected and she said to me girl, you have done a massive amount of work in a short time. Burning the candle at both ends will burn you out. And she says I know, but this is spot on.

Speaker 1:

My motto is to do the things that you don't want to do and so cause we were talking about how I just needed to get up and just do these things that I needed to get done, regardless of what I wanted to do. You know how I was given an example. You know how you you really need to take a shower, but you just don't feel like taking a shower. But you know that once you take that shower it'll make you feel great, and so you just get in there anyways and you get out and you're so thankful that you finally did it. And so that is what I was explaining to her this morning. And it's so funny that you just said that about projectors. Because we do, we burn out at both ends, because we keep going, we don't stop, and that's 100% me, thank you.

Speaker 1:

Right.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm, Mm-hmm. So my question is how did you get into this?

Speaker 1:

Silence, mm-hmm Okay.

Speaker 2:

Okay, right, right, yes.

Speaker 1:

Yes, right, I think by you just saying I really don't have to do that today. That resonates with me big time because, as also myself being a projector, I'm constantly doing things, not only for myself but for other people, on a continuous basis, and I've come to realization that when I do take those breaks and be like you know what, I don't have to do this right now. So I need to go do something to read or go for a walk or, you know, go sit out on your hammock and meditate. I'm finding that those pockets of time where I take out for myself has really helped me be more productive. Are you seeing the same thing for yourself as a projector when you take that time out? Is it helping you as well? I?

Speaker 2:

don't Hmm, hmm and.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, that's so funny. You say that because my husband and I we have like this talk all the time. He's always wanting me to listen to these podcasts or these videos or things that he's interested in, and I'm interested in them too. But I'm not the type of person that can just listen to it and then break and then listen to it and then break. I have to literally listen to it and focus on what they're saying, to really bring it in, to understand it, to just kind of um, to really comprehend what is going on in the conversation and really take it in. And he doesn't. He, he's a complete opposite of that. Like he can listen to things while he's cooking or, you know, working, and think I'm not that person. Like if I'm listening to something, I have to really be focused on it, to actually take it in, because if I'm not focused on it it's just going to go right over my head. I'm not even going to grasp it at all.

Speaker 1:

Do you find that to be the same for a projector? And I also have another question for you. I know I'm giving you two at a time, but earlier you told me about a book that you tell projectors that they should read. Do you want to share that book as well? Uh-huh, thank you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, okay.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, so it can relate. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no-transcript. That's wonderful. Yeah, I find that because I finally opened up to my husband recently and I told him. I'm like, look, I said if you want me to hear you, you're gonna have to get my attention undivided. I said, otherwise it's gonna go in one ear and out the other because I'm not going to be able to focus on what you're saying to me. And, having internet challenges, I think I might be able to edit that. So, and then I I told him, I said when he, when I start to talk much like what you just said when I start talking about something, he'll interrupt me and start trying to correct or or to fix whatever I'm saying. I'm like, wait, wait, wait, let me tell you the whole story before you give me any suggestions. Or maybe I don't want a suggestion, I just want to get it out.

Speaker 2:

Thank, you, mm-hmm, okay, hmm, thank you.

Uh-huh.

Speaker 2:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 1:

Yes, opposites attract right. I love that. So my, where would somebody go to get information on human design specialists? You have a website, correct? And on your, I was going to say, and on your website, is there a place where they can book time with you to be able to get a reading?

So you wrote a book just recently, and can you tell us about this book and what prompted you to write it? It?

I love that. I cannot wait to read your book. I'm definitely going to purchase it so that I can support you, but I also want to know more. So this is really awesome. So one more question when you found out what your and your husband's design keys were, did you do anybody else in your family Like do you have children, do you have other family members? That you did as well, and, by understanding what their design keys were, helped you to better interact with them.

Speaker 2:

Has that helped them with their parenting with her?

Speaker 2:

Yes, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, oh, that's awesome. So would you encourage other parents to look into their children's you know design key so that they can understand their child.

Oh, that's awesome. I love that Just being able to give him your undivided attention without you being divided and, you know, mindset somewhere else. I love that. It makes a lot of sense to me because I'm the same exact way, like I have to 100% be focused on that person, otherwise I'm not. I just won't be present mentally, physically or any aspect at all. I just can't, yeah. Yeah, in a lot of ways, too, though that also we have to be careful, because then we become people pleasers and we have to like understand how to draw the line on that one. So I find myself in that one.

You have been yeah, you have been a breath of fresh air, april. You are so knowledgeable on all of this human design keys and I cannot wait to read your book. It's so exciting.
